A Wanton Gyre

We depend greatly upon language in order to share our ideas, convey emotions, trade stories, and impart wisdom. This, Christopher WunderLee argues is under siege. A social novel from its opening scene onward, A Wanton Gyre chronicles the plight of Maxwell Taylor, a former college professor arrested without explanation, as he faces the fear of a nation and a trial he does not know the purpose of. Searching for a reason for his incarceration, Maxwell recounts his dubious activities over the years, from his termination from the university for blackmailing a student, to his involvement with questionable political factions.

A Wanton Gyre is a book dedicated to the innate conflicts between values we hold dear; safety and liberty, individuals and community, excess and moderation. However, WunderLee's novel transcends such narrow social adjectives, it encompasses more than Maxwell Taylor's misfortune. A Wanton Gyre is about humanity stumbling towards a demise it is capable of avoiding; it transcends fiction and enters the eerie realm of possibility. WunderLee constructs a novel of persecution based on fear and indifference, one that shall change the way you speak in public.
