His list of publications grows year by year, and includes a recent and critically-praised study of St. Cyril of Alexandria, an introduction to Byzantine Orthodox Christianity, a translation of ancient Vesperal hymns, a compilation of mystical texts of the Desert Fathers for prayer and meditation, and an extremely important (and expensive) study of The Transfiguration of Christ in Scripture and Tradition. All of this to say that regarding a reference resource on the Fathers: we trust him. He pays due tribute to two other larger resources -- Di Berardino's Encyclopedia of the Early Church and the venerable Oxford Dictionary of the Christian Church -- and this tribute reflects upon the giver, who has given us a rich mine of knowledge and bibliographic resources in this comparatively inexpensive volume. Apart from the inexplicable lack of an entry on St. Methodius of Olympus, we highly recommend this useful reference tool. Crisp unread copy, owner name present, otherwise as new., Books<
