From the years 1951 to 1953, she and her brother, Henry, were in foster care and finally resided in an orphanage prior to adoption. In 1953 they were adopted and moved to Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Not until the age of thirty did she find out that she had a sister and seven half-sisters and one half-brother. They were all brought together with a reunion planned by her adoptive parents, Henry and Mabel Schneider of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, in the early 1980s. Throughout her life Alyce has lived in various cities in Wisconsin and Minnesota. She now lives in Springtown, Texas, with her husband Rich, three horses and two dogs on a secluded six acres. Her hobbies are oil painting, working with her animals, gardening, and spending time with Rich. She has been writing since the early 1970s.
