Brazilian Economic History Bahia [Brazil] 1913 orig.wrappers 23x15cm, (33) pp., Separata da "Broteria: Serie de Vulgarizacão Scientifica Vol. XI, Fasc IV, 1913". Pagination runs 189-222. ["Joaquim da Silva Tavares - Nasceu em Monte do Meio de S. Bento (Cardigos, Vila de Rei) a 17 de Agosto de 1866. Estudou Letras Humanas e Filosofia no Colégio de S. Francisco de Setúbal. Religioso da Companhia de Jesus. Apaixonado pelas Ciências Naturais, fundou juntamente com Cândido Mendes de Azevedo e Carlos Zimmermann, em 1902, a revista 'Brotéria' (nome adoptado em honra do grande cientista português Brotero). Em Outubro de 1910, após a implantação da República, é obrigado a expatriar-se. O padre Tavares foi para Salamanca, Espanha, embarcando em Cádis, no dia 7 de Novembro de 1910 para a Argentina, chegando em Buenos Aires a 25 do mesmo mês. Daí dirigiu-se para o Brasil, fixando-se na cidade da Baía. Voltou a Portugal em 1928. Publicou vários trabalhos científicos na revista 'Brotéria' e foi considerado entre os principais cecidólogos.
