The importance of this work stems from the fact that despite the widespread practice of exclusive breastfeeding, infections of neonates leading to hospitalization is still common. The work investigates the incidences of pathogens implicated in neonatal septicaemia in association with the role of some factors of human milk. The book provides the reader with an extensive review on these bioactive components of Human breastmilk as regards their mode of action and activity. A comparative analysis of bioactive components from mother as with healthy infants and the milk of mothers whose babies developed septicaemia are provided. Concentrations of IgA, lactoferrin and lysozyme by ELISA, while the cellular factors were assayed by total and differential cell count techniques. The conclusions drawn in this work will be useful to Physicians, Nurses, Health workers and Scientists especially those involved in neonatal nutrition and advocates of exclusive breastfeeding. Mothers will find useful information in this work. Breastmilk Immunologic, Cellular and Enzymatic Components and the Bacteriology and Control of Neonatal Septicaemia Buch (fremdspr.)
